Instructions

Alternate Leg Diagonal Bound

1

Assume a comfortable stance with one foot slightly in front of the other.

2

Begin by pushing off with the front leg, driving the opposite knee forward and as high as possible before landing. Attempt to cover as much distance to each side with each bound.

3

It may help to use a line on the ground to guage distance from side to side.

4

Repeat the sequence with the other leg.

Heaving Snatch Balance

1

This drill helps you learn the snatch. Begin by holding a light weight across the back of the shoulders. Your feet should be slightly wider than hip width apart with the feet turned out, the same position that you would perform a squat with.

2

Begin by dipping with the knees slightly, and popping back up to briefly unload the bar. Drive yourself underneath the bar, elevating it overhead as you descend into a full squat.

3

Return to a standing position.

Verdict

Both exercises target the quadriceps. Alternate Leg Diagonal Bound is a beginner exercise using none, while Heaving Snatch Balance is intermediate and uses barbell. Choose Alternate Leg Diagonal Bound if you're looking for a more accessible option, or Heaving Snatch Balance for a greater challenge.
